| This paper presents the Interpolating Element-Free Galerkin (IEFG) method for the numerical solution of an optimal control problem constrained by an elliptic variational inequality. The proposed approach is an indirect approach: the optimality system is derived via a Lagrangian formulation, leading to mixed complementarity conditions that are solved numerically using a meshfree scheme based on moving least squares approximation with Kronecker-delta property. The method is mesh-free and can be used with irregular node distributions and even in irregular domains. To verify the reliability of the proposed scheme, its convergence properties are also numerically investigated and several numerical tests for the optimal control problem are carried out using the developed method. The computational results illustrate the accuracy and robustness of the approach. | ||
