| Cancer is a life-threatening disease. Hyperthermia is one of the medical therapies used to treat cancer. Understanding and accurately predicting the pattern of temperature in biological tissues during hyperthermia treatment is crucial. The heat transfer is mathematically simulated by Penne’s bioheat transfer equation (PBHTE). In this paper, we provide a high-order numerical solution to Penne’s bioheat transfer equation. We have also solved some examples for which the analytical solution was known to check the accuracy and order of the numerical method. We applied the method to study the temperature pattern in a biological tissue which is divided into two parts. The first part represents the diseased tissue where heat is generated during hyperthermia treatment. The second part represents the healthy tissue. We examined the behavior of temperature with constant and variable heat generation due to an external heat source. The effect of blood perfusion on temperature patterns is also studied. | ||
